The SSP Scholarship platform solves this by bringing every state-funded scholarship into one verified system. The aid is available for pre-metric and post-metric education, from Class 1 to postgraduate courses. Eligible students (from SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities) can explore various financial aid options, such as scholarships, fee reimbursements, or stipends.

What is the SSP Scholarship? 

SSP is the short form for  “State Scholarship Portal”. It is an official Karnataka government platform that provides SSP Scholarship (financial aid) to students from eligible backgrounds. Here are the key features of the SSP Scholarship you should know:

• Authority: Government of Karnataka
• Who can apply: Karnataka residents from SC, ST, OBC, Minority, and income-eligible minority categories
• Courses covered: Pre-Matric (Classes 1-10) and Post-Matric courses such as PUC, diploma, UG, PG, and professional studies
• Purpose: Reduce dropouts and support access to education
• Departments involved: Social Welfare, Backwards Classes Welfare, Minority Welfare, Tribal Welfare, Technical Education, Medical Education, and State Brahmin Development Board
• Scholarship support: Financial aid for tuition fees and student living expenses, including hostel support

Eligibility Criteria & Income

To apply for the SSP Scholarship, you need to be a permanent resident of Karnataka. Eligibility rules depend on the selected scheme (aid) and student category. Here’s an overview of income and marks according to category:

SSP Application Process

The State Scholarship Portal (SSP) Karnataka is the main website (ssp.karnataka.gov.in) to apply for Pre-Matric and Post-Matric scholarships. Read below for details, but here’s an overview of the steps to apply:

1. Create Account & Complete e-KYC (See steps below)
2. Select Scholarship & Enter Details by choosing Pre-Matric or Post-Matric
3. Submit & Upload e-Attestation
4. Approval & DBT Payment: Approved applications show “Pushed to DBT”. Payment comes to the Aadhaar-linked bank via NPCI mapper.
5. Track Status: Use Year-wise Student Status to check approval and payment updates.

How To Get Started with the SSP Application

Before applying, make sure all your documents are valid, updated, and easy to read. Your Kutumba ID (Ration Card) should be active, and your bank account must be linked to your Aadhaar for DBT payments. Keep clear digital copies (PDF or JPG) of everything. Blurry or expired documents can lead to rejection or delays in verification.

How to Do the E-KYC and E-Attestation Process

Applying for an SSP Scholarship starts with completing E-KYC and E-Attestation. Both steps verify your identity and academic records before you submit your application through the State Scholarship Portal.

Process for E-KYC

• Log in to the SSP portal using your SSP ID, Aadhaar name, and gender
• Click the E-KYC alert shown on the dashboard
• Enter your Aadhaar number on the Centre for e-Governance page, and confirm via OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile.
• Check your photo on the screen. If correct, click “Save.” If not, update your Aadhaar at the nearest Taluk Office.

Process for E-Attestation

E-Attestation applies to post-metric students. Pre-matric students don’t need this. After completing E-KYC, post-matric students must complete E-Attestation: 

• Visit eattestation.ssp.karnataka.gov.in and log in using SSP credentials

• Confirm your loaded student details and click “Confirm & Proceed.”
• Select “Upload E-Attestation Documents,” choose document types, fill in details, and upload PDFs.
• Submit documents for verification by your college’s Nodal Officer.
• After verification, the system generates document IDs. 
• Store document IDs securely for final application use
• Never share SSP login details with others

How to Create an Account on SSP Portal

Creating your account on the SSP Portal is the first step to apply for scholarships in Karnataka.

• Visit ssp.karnataka.gov.in and click “Create New Account.”

• Enter your Aadhaar number, name, gender, email, and mobile number, then verify your mobile with OTP.

• Complete registration by creating a strong password (8-15 characters, including uppercase, lowercase, numbers, special characters).
• After submission, receive your SSP ID via SMS. Use this ID for all future logins and applications.

Step-by-Step Guide to Apply for SSP Scholarship

Applying for SSP scholarships requires careful steps. First, create your account and complete E-KYC verification.

How to Apply Pre-Matric Scholarship 

1. Log in to the SSP portal with your SSP ID.
2. Click “Apply for Pre-Matric Scholarship” on your dashboard.
3. Enter your SATS ID to fetch school and academic details. Verify accuracy.
4. Add caste, income, and parent occupation details, along with certificate numbers.
5. Fill in residential information, including district, Taluk, and PIN code.
6. Confirm Karnataka domicile and hostel status.
7. Review all information carefully. Correct any errors and submit.
8. Pre-matric applicants must have an NSP OTR number if in SC, ST, or OBC categories.

How to Apply for Post-Matric Scholarship

1. Log in to the Post-Matric portal with SSP ID and complete Aadhaar E-KYC if prompted.
2. Click “Apply for Post-Matric Scholarship”. The system fetches your SSLC or PUC data automatically. Verify details.
3. Enter your District, Taluk, Assembly Constituency, and PIN code, confirming Karnataka residency.
4. Add caste and income certificate RD numbers to verify eligibility with the Revenue Department records.
5. Confirm your college name, course, and discipline. Enter the course start date and admission mode if needed.
6. Indicate hostel or day scholar status.
7. Review all details, submit the application, and download the Acknowledgement Receipt. Keep a copy for the college Nodal Officer.

SSP Scholarship Renewal Process

Renewal ensures continuous scholarship support each year.

1. Log in to the SSP portal using your previous year’s Application ID and password.
2. Select Renew Scholarship from your dashboard.
3. Update only the necessary details for the current academic year.
4. Upload fresh documents:
   • Latest fee receipt
   • Updated mark sheet 
   • Aadhaar 
   • SATS ID
   • Caste and income certificates
   • Bank passbook
5. Review all information carefully.
6. Submit the renewal form.

The renewal process is simpler than the first application and focuses on academic progress and updated financial information. Continuous eligibility is required to maintain funding.
